The Ministry of Trade announced a five-year plan to build and create more than 150 hypermarkets as part of a program aimed at creating a balance in the local market and reducing price increases.
The ministry said in a statement, quoting its official spokesman, Mohammed Hanoun, that the Ministry of Trade's plan aims to achieve food security and the public sector's contribution to stabilizing local market prices and helping families with limited income through support by selling at cost prices, in addition to selling in installments for K-Card holders.
Hanoun pointed out that hypermarkets are characterized by the large area of the branches, as the areas of some of them are the largest in Iraq and some countries in the region, as well as very large areas for free parking.
And the great diversity in goods and products.
Pointing out that the selling price is supported for food products and a contract was signed with K-Card and other electronic payment companies to include retirees and those with care in deferred sales and at cost prices.
Stressing that the direct jobs that the project will achieve are more than 3,000 jobs and more than 5,000 indirect jobs.
Hanoun explained that the first phase of the project will include the opening of six branches, then the total number of branches will become 150 branches within the five-year plan
