[rtl]Baghdad / NINA / The Parliamentary Legal Committee confirmed that there is no political consensus among the components on the personality who will assume the position of Speaker of the House of Representatives, despite the Coordination Framework’s call to decide on assuming the position.
The deputy head of the committee, Mohammed Anouz, said in a statement to the National Iraqi News Agency ( NINA ): "The Coordination Framework is pressuring the Sunni political blocs to decide on the candidate for the position of Speaker of the House of Representatives, especially since the State of Law Coalition and some of the blocs allied with it want the candidate Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani, and this is what some other Sunni blocs reject, because they see that the issue has imposed their wills on them.
He pointed out that the parliament session next Saturday could be decisive if the legal quorum is achieved to hold it, and if the political consensus decides at the last minute on the name of one of the four candidates whose names are put forward for the position, namely the representatives Salem Al-Issawi, Talal Al-Zubaie, Amer Abdul-Jabbar, and Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani.
He explained that the closest candidates for the position are Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani and Salem Al-Issawi, but political consensus remains dominant over all matters, indicating that the House of Representatives law can be amended to add new candidates, if political consensus is available for this matter, and it is impossible for one of the four candidates to obtain political consensus and agreement.
The Coordination Framework had called in its regular meeting held last Monday in the office of the head of the Al-Hikma Movement Ammar al-Hakim, in the presence of Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, called on Parliament to hold a session next Saturday to decide on the presidency of the council. / End 9[/rtl]
