Baghdad Provincial Council formed a joint committee with the Engineering Services Effort Team to prepare the necessary plans for joint projects between them in the outlying areas.
Director of the Baghdad Periphery Services Authority, Ishraf Kamel, told Al-Sabah: The authority is concerned with service projects such as water, sewage, and paving, as well as municipal works in rural areas outside the municipality’s borders. He added that the authority, due to the expansion in villages and districts and their urgent need for services from all sectors, decided to divide Baghdad’s eight districts into two groups. The first is Al-Karkh, which includes Abu Ghraib, Al-Mahmoudiya, Al-Taji, and Al-Tarmia, while the second is Al-Rusafa, which includes Al-Rashidiya, Al-Hussainiya, Al-Zawraa, and Al-Madain, in order to make the work integrated with the governorate. Kamel explained that the projects’ financial allocations are distributed according to population density, the number of villages, and the urgent need for services.
He added that the service and engineering effort team is a basic and effective partner in providing services, as its work extends to all areas of Baghdad, whether the outskirts or the center, which called for the formation of a joint committee between the authority and the team and coordination with the relevant authorities from the governorate and the Baghdad Secretariat, because there are infrastructure projects, street paving, development and rehabilitation of areas shared between these parties, and therefore this committee contributes to the optimal distribution of powers without interference. Kamel explained that the work of this committee is under the supervision of the Prime Minister, and it receives project lists from the administrative units and district governors for the purpose of determining the necessary financial allocations for them, preparing the necessary studies regarding them, and choosing the companies and implementing agencies for them before including them in the plans for imminent implementation.
