Education: Great turnout for cybersecurity department in vocational schools

The Ministry of Education recorded a great turnout for the Cyber Security Department in vocational schools, which it opened with the start of the 2024-2025 academic year.
Director General of the Vocational Education Directorate, Mahmoud Al-Maliki, told Al-Sabah: “Registration in the department was large and unexpected, despite its recent opening with the start of the 2024-2025 academic year.”
He pointed out that the admission mechanism in the department and the rate differ from one region or governorate to another were determined, explaining that the turnout of young males exceeded that of females because they are interested in studying computers and modern information technology.
He explained that the opening of the department comes to keep pace with global developments in the field of vocational education and the mechanism for introducing them into the country in ways that suit the nature of students, in addition to meeting the needs of the labor market with modern sciences.
Al-Maliki added that the educational staff who will follow up on the teaching mechanism in the department have developed their capabilities during the summer vacation, and they are specifically computer teachers, as they will work on teaching computer subjects under the content of cyber security during the first batch of students, which is the fourth preparatory stage (first vocational).
He added that special cybersecurity curricula will be prepared for the fifth preparatory stage (second vocational) during the next year 2025-2026
