Gold rises on the impact of tension on the Korean Peninsula
BAGHDAD (Reuters) -
Gold prices hit a record high on Monday, with the decline in the US dollar due to the US president's remarks and the rush to the traditional safe havens in the wake of escalating tensions on the Korean peninsula.
Gold rose 0.7 percent to $ 1,293.90 an ounce, "an ounce", reaching record levels since November 2016, reaching US $ 1295.42 per ounce.
Yellow metal prices saw a rise of 2.5 percent last week, to achieve "the biggest weekly gains since June last year."
In contrast, the US currency declined against the Japanese yen despite strong US data in the decline of unemployment benefits and rising consumer in the US confidence index.
