    KABUL, June 17- At least four American soldiers were shot and killed in an apparent insider attack by an Afghan soldier at a base in northern Afghanistan on Saturday, a military official said.

    "An Afghan soldier shot and killed four American troops inside the base," said Abdul Qahar Araam, spokesman for the Afghan Army's 209th Corps. "We are investigating."

    The US military command in Kabul confirmed that it was "aware of an incident" at Camp Shaheen, which is the headquarters of the 209th Corps in the northern city of Mazar-i-Sharif, but did not provide more details.

    announced that the Afghan army on Saturday, killing four US soldiers in an attack on them carried out inside the Shaheen base by an Afghan military in the north of the country.

    The official spokesman for the Corps Al209 in the Afghan army Abdelkahar Aram: " An Afghan soldier killed four US soldiers by shooting them inside the base."

    He stressed that the Afghan ARAM military command launched an investigation into the incident.


    For its part, the US military command confirmed in the Afghan capital Kabul as "aware of the occurrence of this incident," Shaheen base in the city of Mazar-e-Sharif, north of the country, but did not give any other information.
