    A member of the Committee on Women, Family and Childhood in the House of Representatives, Rizan Sheikh Delir, proposed the establishment of the Independent Supreme Commission for the Empowerment of Women.
    "The task of this body will be to focus on women's affairs as a basic component of society, away from outdated traditions, man's pressures, male dominance, restrictions and requirements of religious parties that hinder their movement," she said in a statement.
    "Successful societies have been based on activating the role of women in all areas within absolute equality and this principle has been proven through gender studies from the experiences of civilized peoples," she said.
    "This body will be an alternative to the Ministry of Women, which included government lobbying, which lost all the opportunities that can promote the status of women in society through international support, which can be provided through this institution."
    "This ministry, which was without a portfolio and was not integrated into any government institution after its dissolution, was transformed into a simple department without any powers in the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers."
    She appealed to Sheikh Delir "the government and parliament to the need to pay attention to the reality of women in the country through the preparation of a bill for this body and submit it to the House of Representatives to discuss and vote on it as soon as possible."

    She pointed out that "the reality of women in Iraq is getting worse day by day and their problems are constantly worsening from their sense of injustice in society through the issues of domestic violence ending with the suffering of displacement and the loss of their husbands and children and the effects of the effects on them for 3 years."
