Economic researcher and consulting engineer, Imad Al-Muhammadawi, in an interview with "Al-Sabah", commented on the announcement of the Parliamentary Investment and Development Committee about the government's intention to establish the administrative capital in Baghdad, which will be announced soon by Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, which includes all ministries and departments, as an important intention to reduce congestion and pollution suffered by the capital Baghdad, especially since it will include foreign departments, embassies, banks and agencies. Al-Muhammadawi continued that expanding the geographical area is a necessity to reduce population density in the capital Baghdad, which is witnessing significant population growth.
At a time when the head of the committee, MP Hassan Qasim Al-Khafaji, said: "There is a government intention in the coming short period to announce the administrative capital," noting that "the administrative capital will be south of Baghdad towards Alwa Al-Rashid within a large area."
He pointed out that "this capital will include all ministries and departments according to the financial allocations," noting that "Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani will announce this capital and lay the foundation stone for it, and it will be implemented and completed in the coming years."
