Baghdad Chamber of Commerce received a high-level delegation from the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) to develop tax policies as part of a scouting tour of public and private sector institutions.
The delegation's visit aimed to discuss the possibility of joint work to develop tax policies and laws, in a way that supports economic and social development in Iraq.
Head of the Baghdad Chamber of Commerce, Firas Rasool Al-Hamdani, stressed the importance of communicating with international organizations to evaluate the country's economic performance, noting that the tax axis represents the most important joints in achieving financial revenues for the general budget in many countries of the world, and we must benefit from successful experiences in this important aspect, in a way that evaluates the economy and does not affect the family economy, but rather makes many people view taxes as a duty and not a financial burden.
The meeting focused on the importance of cooperation between the public and private sectors to achieve comprehensive development goals.
The two parties agreed to submit an action plan and a schedule for future meetings to enhance the partnership, and to present recommendations that contribute to reforming the tax system, in accordance with the requirements of Iraqi society and in line with international standards.
