Government policy postpones local elections indefinitely[/size]

The Independent Electoral Commission said on Sunday that the government had informed it of the cancellation of a scheduled date for the provincial elections, which means postponing the process indefinitely.
A member of the Board of Commissioners and the spokesman of the Commission, Muqdad al-Sharifi said in a press statement to the twilight News, that the Commission received a letter from the Council of Ministers canceled his decision No. (11) for the year and to determine the date of holding provincial elections not organized in the province for the year 2017.
The government had earlier set the date for local elections on 16 September, which happened yesterday.
He added that the Cabinet took the new decision at its meeting last Tuesday, pointing out that the Council of Ministers informed the Commission of this decision and to propose a new date for the holding of the elections in accordance with Article 46 / I of the provincial elections law and districts No. 36 of 2008 amended .
