The Iraqi government refused to allow the delivery of military aid that Canada intends to send to the Peshmerga forces through Baghdad to Kurdistan.

"The aid for the Peshmerga is now in Montreal in the Canadian province of Quebec," a spokesman for the Canadian Defense Ministry told local media. "We will send this aid as soon as Baghdad allows us to do so."

The Canadian aid is estimated at 9 million and 500,000 Canadian dollars, including anti-tank weapons, cannons, sniper rifles, pistols and other weapons.

The Canadian Defense Minister, Hargit Singh Sagan, had confirmed the news earlier, noting that "any work we do must be in the process of regular and with the consent of the Iraqi government."
