Baghdad and Erbil are discussing the unification of customs duties

The Director of Customs of the Kurdistan region Samal Abdul Rahman, Tuesday, that a delegation from the Directorate of Customs Territory is in talks with Baghdad on the unification of customs duties at the border crossings.
Abdul Rahman said in an interview for Alsumaria News that "a delegation from the Directorate of Customs of the Kurdistan region is in talks with the concerned authorities in the federal government in Baghdad," explaining that "the meeting aims to consolidate tariffs and customs tariffs at the border crossings."
Abdul Rahman added, "There were differences in the determination of tariffs and customs tariffs in the ports in the Kurdistan region and other Iraqi ports," noting that "the unification of customs tariffs and fees aims to provide service to the public interest."
The governor of the Central Bank of Iraq Ali Alaq announced on Monday (12 March 2018), that a delegation from the federal government met with the Minister of Finance of the Kurdistan region to coordinate on the collection of taxes and standardization and organization and remove problems in this area.
