US President Donald Trump on Saturday called on US allies to provide fair access to markets.
Speaking at a news conference before leaving for Singapore to meet with North Korean President Kim Jong-un, Trump described the seven big meetings as successful, noting that trade was at the top of the issues discussed by the group.
The US president said he had asked the countries of the group, which includes Germany, the United States, Canada, Japan, France, the United Kingdom and Italy, to stop unfair trade practices against his country.
"I do not blame G7 leaders for business deals, but those days are over," Trump said, adding that Washington has given its partners significant benefits over decades and can not continue in the same way, blaming the former US administrations.
The summit was held amid trade disputes between the United States and the rest of the seven major members because of Trump's decision last week to impose tariffs on imports of steel and aluminum from Canada, the European Union and Mexico under its "America First" program.
Trump attended one day of the two-day G-7 summit, where he left for Singapore in preparation for his meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un on Tuesday. Finished[/ltr]
