    The Ministry of Agriculture announced on Monday banning the import of lettuce for its domestic produce, as well as nine other crops.
    The ministry spokesman Hamid Nayef said in a statement read by "Economy News" that "the approval got to prevent the import of lettuce and all border crossings and as of 1/2019 for the abundance of local product."
    "The decision was granted 10 days to importers with prior approval and who have entered part of the imported missions in order to give them sufficient time to complete what is left of them," he said.
    "The number of prohibited crops from imports reached ten crops (tomatoes, eggplants, carrots, sardines, potatoes, trees, frankincense, cauliflower, maize and lettuce) for their domestic availability," he said.
    He pointed out that "the ministry's policy is to protect the local product on the one hand and consumer protection on the other and through the application of the agricultural calendar, as well as data received from the directorates of agriculture, indicating the abundance or scarcity of agricultural product, In support of local product protection. "
