The Foreign Ministry on Thursday described the relationship with Saudi Arabia as a "strategy," noting that Iraq is "balancing and strong" to build its interests.
"The relationship with Saudi Arabia is strategic, and Iraq is moving in balance and strength to build its interests," ministry spokesman Ahmad al-Sahaf said in a statement received by the NNN news agency.
"The most important thing we have is to implement what we agree on and our efforts with the various ministries of the Iraqi state are integrated to achieve this."
He pointed out that "the size of international and Arab demand for Iraq indicates realistically that Iraq is central to the region."
It is noteworthy that a Saudi economic delegation comprising the ministers of energy and investment arrived, on Wednesday (April 3, 2019), to Iraq.
The two sides signed memorandums of understanding (MoU) on several issues.
