    The head of the Finance Committee in the House of Representatives, Haitham al-Jubouri, on Wednesday, the Ministry of Transport to take precautionary measures to protect the Iraqi ports and fleet, stressing the need to search for alternative plans in the event of any military collision in the region.

    BAGHDAD - 
    The parliamentary finance committee on Wednesday called on the Ministry of Transport to find alternative ways to secure Iraqi trade in anticipation of a military clash in the region. 
     In a statement received by Mawazine News, the committee said that "while the Gulf ports face an uncertain fate, while the countries in the Arabian Gulf basin have developed their alternative plans in anticipation of the undesirable consequences of the hostilities "We call on the Ministry of Transport to expedite the rapid precautionary measures to protect Iraqi ports and ensure the safety of the Iraqi navy fleet of ships and vessels belonging to the maritime transport companies and Iraqi ports for fear of the escalation of the conflict in the region."
     "The ministry should look for alternative plans in the event of any military confrontation, to ensure the continuity of the flow of necessary goods through alternative ports, and transport them by road to secure the movement of Iraqi trade, safety and flexibility."

    [size=18]The Finance Committee in the House of Representatives on Wednesday called on the Ministry of Transport to take precautionary measures to protect the ports and the Iraqi navy, stressing the need to search for alternative plans in the event of any military collision in the region.


    The head of the committee, MP Haitham al-Jubouri said in a statement received by Alsumaria News, a copy of it, that "the Gulf ports face an unknown fate foreshadowing pessimism," noting that "the countries in the Arabian Gulf basin put their alternative plans in anticipation of the occurrence of what is not feared by the military operations that have become Imminent, and threatening the entire region. "





    The head of the committee called "the Ministry of Transport to expedite the rapid precautionary measures to protect Iraqi ports and ensure the safety of the Iraqi navy fleet of ships and vessels belonging to the shipping companies and Iraqi ports for fear of the escalation of conflict in the region." 

    He also stressed "the ministry to search for alternative plans in the event of any collision of the war to ensure the continuity of the flow of goods necessary through alternative ports, and transport by road to secure the movement of Iraqi trade and safety and flexibility."


    Earlier in the day, the United States directed its non-essential government staff to leave Iraq after repeatedly expressing concern over threats from Iranian-backed forces. 

    The US embassy in Baghdad said in a statement that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs ordered the withdrawal of staff from both the embassy and the consulate in Erbil. 

    On Tuesday, the US military reiterated its concerns about possible imminent threats by Iran to its troops in Iraq. But a senior British commander questioned the comments and described Tehran's statements as "psychological warfare." 

    US President Donald Trump's administration has stepped up pressure to end some countries' exemption from sanctions to buy Iranian oil as part of a bid to curb Iran's regional influence. 

    Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi said on Tuesday that indications from talks with the United States and Iran that "things will end well."

    Washington has sent additional military forces to the Middle East, including an aircraft carrier, B-52 bombers and Patriot missiles, in a show of force against what US officials said was a threat to US forces and interests in the region.
