Palestine intends to import oil from Iraq

A senior Palestinian delegation will head to the State of Iraq next week to discuss the horizon of economic cooperation between the two countries.
Prime Minister Mohammed Ashtayeh said that a Palestinian delegation comprising a number of ministers and businessmen will travel to Iraq next Monday to open economic horizons, but did not announce the agenda of this delegation, pointing out that this visit comes under the guidance of President Mahmoud Abbas to strengthen the Arab depth in the context of economic disengagement About Israel.
According to sources, the Palestinian delegation will discuss in Iraq several files, most notably trade relations and work to conclude an agreement to provide oil to Palestine, which is a substitute for fuel imported from Israel.
The sources said that the visit comes as a continuation of the understandings reached recently with the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan on supplying Palestine with oil derivatives, pointing out that the Palestinian delegation will discuss this issue with the Iraqi brothers to enable the Palestinian National Authority to import Iraqi oil to be refined in Jordan before transfer to Palestine.
