The Parliamentary Services and Construction Committee confirmed Friday, after visiting the floating port of Basra, we reached the cause of the burning is the lack of safety standards in the port by the Ministry of Oil.
"The provision of safety standards is a top priority in the floating port of Basra," said Waleed al-Sahlani, head of the committee. "There are some problems between supervision by the Ministry of Oil and supervision by employees in the ports department in Basra" .
He added that "port staff with its cadres were able to help the situation, but as a parliamentary services committee we need a position from the Ministry of Oil."
A security source in the province of Basra, last Tuesday, a fire broke out in the port (Khafka) in the province of Basra in southern Iraq.
As firefighters managed to extinguish the fire of Basra's main floating port to export Iraqi crude oil to the world markets by 4 million barrels per day, a deputy revealed financial and administrative corruption behind the fire.
