    The China Rare Metal Industry Association has warned that a trade dispute with Washington would harm businesses and consumers in the United States, stressing its willingness to use rare metals in the dispute.
    The association, which includes some 300 miners and manufacturers, held a special meeting earlier this week, just days after US President Donald Trump threatened to strike China with a new set of tariffs.
    In a statement released on Wednesday, the association described the US tariff policy as a "trade bullying" aimed at halting China's development.
    The statement stressed that there are no winners of the trade war, and warned that US citizens and companies will be victims of the conflict between the two largest economies in the world.
    Rare earth metals are an important element in the high-tech industry, from mobile phones to modern fighter aircraft, and China is the largest supplier of these elements.
    If Beijing used the paper in the trade war with Washington, it would have a painful impact on the United States, which relies on China for the minerals.
    In an apparent attempt to limit China's dominance of the rare earth metals industry, the Pentagon asked US mining companies last month to report their production capabilities. Finished 25 h
