Harb: The House’s decision will not cancel Iraq’s agreements with the United States
A legal expert confirmed that the House’s decision on foreign forces does not nullify the existing agreements between Iraq and the United States of America.
The legal expert, Tariq Harb, said during a special statement to PUKmedia: The House’s decision will not cancel any agreement with the United States as the strategic framework agreement, and he asked the government to take the necessary measures to end the foreign presence without specifying those procedures and the timetable.
He added: We do not want to enter into a rivalry with the United States, and the existing agreements between Iraq and the United States remain as they are in the fields of marshes, education, archeology, universities, industry, agriculture and training of security forces and they have nothing to do with the decision of the House of Representatives.
He explained: The decision gave authority to the government, and the security aspect is one aspect of the strategic framework agreement, but there are other important clauses and paragraphs that will continue.
