The British ambassador to Iraq, Stephen Hickey, condemned on Wednesday the use of "excessive lethal force" against the demonstrators, calling for restraint and conducting credible investigations into the killing of "600 protesters" so far.
"We condemn the killing and wounding of more demonstrators," Ambassador Stephen Hickey said in a tweet on Twitter.
"There is no doubt that the protesters must maintain their peace, but there is no justification for using excessive lethal force," he added.
Hickey pointed out that "more than 600 protesters have been killed so far," stressing that there is an urgent need for restraint and to conduct reliable investigations.
Ambassador Heikki also called for "a practical response to the protesters' demands for reform". Ended 29/43 A
