The head of the Al-Nasr coalition, Haider al-Abadi, confirmed on Saturday that the crackdown on the demonstrators will not succeed, and they will not back down from reform, whatever the cost to them.
Al-Abadi wrote through his account on Twitter, today, (January 25, 2020) that "the people who have given their youth an offering to their country, freedom and principles will not back down from reform no matter what the cost."
He added in his tweet, "Those who gave their souls to life will not die, and this country, which taught humanity humanity civilization, and taught the invaders lessons in patriotism and sovereignty, victory will be its ally."
Al-Abadi concluded by saying, "Neither oppression nor injustice will succeed where he came."
The security and medical sources have reported, today, that several demonstrators were injured during clashes with the security forces on the road linking the Tahrir and Al-Khalani areas.
The sources said in statements that "the clashes that broke out after the riot police tried to advance from al-Khilani towards Tahrir Square, resulted in the injury of about 20 protesters."
She continued, "The protesters set fire to the tires to prevent the advance of the security forces."
The security and medical sources had confirmed earlier that the police forces clashed with protesters in central Baghdad, wounding 7, after the authorities started removing concrete blocks from the main protest site in the capital.
