, Commander of the NATO mission in Iraq, Lieutenant General Per Olsen, expressed, on Thursday, the alliance's confidence in the capabilities of security and the Iraqi authorities in the investigation of the missile attacks.
Olsen said, "The expansion of the NATO mission comes at the request of the government, and the approval of the 30 countries in the alliance, and the expansion process has not started yet, and it will be according to the government's request."
He added, "We are present in the country at the invitation of the government, and we respect the country's sovereignty, work within the governmental framework, and offer advice in combating corruption."
He continued, "Our role is advisory, and we do not provide training in operations against ISIS or others. Our activity is limited to the capital, and we may expand if the government requests."
He pointed out that "the mission is located in a camp that contains coalition forces, and its work is separate, and it is not combat," stressing, "Iraqi forces protect us."
