The head of the Border Ports Authority, Omar Al-Waeli, confirmed, today, Saturday, that all ports are completely closed and committed to the agricultural calendar.
Al-Waeli told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The border crossings are completely closed until today and are committed to the agricultural calendar, and it is forbidden to enter any materials according to this calendar."
He added that "the news received about the opening of the border crossings is unfounded," calling for "taking the news from the main sources."
Al-Waeli pointed out that “the border outlets are a monitoring body in which the application of the law is guaranteed,” stressing that “there will be a meeting on Monday by the Ministerial Council for the Economy. .
On Friday, the Border Ports Authority confirmed that the Ministerial Council for the Economy will discuss excluding some vegetables from imports .
She explained that "according to the directives of Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi, and in conjunction with the approaching month of Ramadan, and in order to reduce the burden on citizens, and after a group of vegetables witnessed a rise in prices, the Ministry of Agriculture directed the presentation of the issue of excluding some materials to the Ministerial Council for the Economy on Monday." Next Monday to allow an exception (tomato, eggplant, and cucumber) from the ban for a limited time and their entry from all border outlets, so as to make an abundance of these materials within the local market .
