Baghdad Governorate is facing a "big problem" in providing land to the deserving categories due to the scarcity of those ready for distribution, in contrast, the number of applications has reached one million applications currently, while the governorate's municipalities confirmed that they were unable to fulfill their obligations in the matter of distributing plots of land among the eligible groups, calling for the formation of a bank Lands as a central competent authority .
Last month, Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi launched an initiative to end the housing crisis in the country, which includes distributing plots of land among those who do not own it, through an electronic portal for submission .
The Director of Baghdad Municipalities, Yasser Al-Quraishi, said in a statement to "Al-Sabah" newspaper, followed by IQ News , that "the Baghdad governorate was unable to fulfill its obligations in the matter of distributing plots of land among the eligible groups," revealing that "there are one million requests to obtain land from different parties."
He added that "citizens refuse to receive lands in remote and remote areas that lack services," noting that "the governorate had distributed lands in remote areas, but the beneficiaries did not receive them."
He revealed "the existence of lands in suitable locations belonging to the Municipality of Baghdad and the Ministries of Finance and Agriculture, but it refuses to transfer it to the municipality and thus remains idle and cannot be used," calling for "the formation of the Land Bank as a competent central authority . "
