Minister of Resources: We are making efforts to reach a fair and equitable agreement with upstream countries

{Local: Al Furat News} The Minister of Water Resources, Mahdi Rashid Al-Hamdani, announced the ministry's efforts to reach a fair and just agreement for Iraq with upstream countries.
Al-Hamdani said as a speaker at the extraordinary high-level session of the Ninth Conference of the Parties to the Water Agreement, Helsinki 1992, held in Geneva for the period from September 29 to October 1, 2021, that "Iraq is in its last steps to join the Water Agreement / Helsinki 1992".
He referred to the efforts made by the Ministry of Water Resources to reach a fair and just agreement with the upstream countries and the possibility of the agreement providing the necessary support to strengthen its position to guarantee its water rights.
