Shafaq News / The Iraqi Foreign Minister, Fouad Hussein, discussed on Sunday the reality of US-Iranian relations and ways to hold future meetings between the two parties, while expressing his hope for the resumption of the Vienna negotiations, and Washington's return to the nuclear agreement.
This came during Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein's reception, at his residence in New York, with the Special Representative of the United States of America for Iranian Affairs, Robert Malley, on the sidelines of the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly, according to a statement received by Shafaq News Agency.
According to the statement, during the meeting, they discussed political and security developments in the region and their repercussions, the reality of US-Iranian relations, and the possibility of holding future meetings.
Hussein stressed the roles and activities undertaken by Iraq in "reducing tensions between the countries of the region in order to maintain regional peace and security, and in the interest of international peace and security."
He expressed his hope for "the return of talks in Vienna to implement the agreements and the joint action plan and their positive repercussions on the level of regional and international relations."
For his part, Robert Malley praised "the important role of Iraq in the region and its quest to build and extend bridges between the countries of the region to resolve differences through dialogue and peaceful methods."

Tehran and Washington relations at the Iraqi-American table
