    On Tuesday, the State Real Estate Department affiliated to the Ministry of Finance revealed procedures for dividing houses into small areas, confirming the establishment of a database for state real estate.

    Raji explained, "The State Real Estate Department is currently working on updating a modern database on advanced scientific bases, in coordination with the Real Estate Registration Department and related departments, to confront the phenomenon of abuse that expanded significantly after 2003, and to take all legal methods to retrieve those properties."

    The real estate department official confirmed that "the department has so far succeeded in returning thousands of state properties," noting that "the authority responsible for managing Iraqi state-owned properties abroad is the Ministry of Foreign Affairs."
    Raji said, "The bulk of these properties are currently occupied by Iraq's diplomatic missions," stressing that "steps have been taken in managing the file in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and relevant authorities, with a clear database."
    Raji indicated, "This file is managed with a high degree of professionalism in accordance with the amended Law No. (21 of 2006) on the sale and lease of state funds, the amended Investment Law No. (13 of 2006), and the relevant decisions of the Council of Ministers," noting that "these legislation drew up The legal contexts for dealing with the file, and solving any problem in the way of any transaction within this framework.
    On the issue of agricultural lands, Raji said that "the agricultural legislation requires that agricultural lands be used for agricultural activity, both plant and animal, and the responsibility for following up on that activity rests with the Ministry of Agriculture by law."
    The Ministry of Finance had previously announced the restoration of about 1,000 properties to the state from violators of public funds belonging to various parties.
