On Friday, the Ministry of Water Resources commented on the request submitted to the Arab League regarding the water crisis with neighboring countries.

Ministry spokesman Awni Diab said in a statement to NRT Arabia (December 3, 2021), that "the Minister of Water Resources asked the Arab League to pay attention to the issue of water in Iraq, while attending the Ministerial Council meeting of Arab Water Ministers, because Iraq is facing great challenges, with upstream countries.

Diab added that "from this point of view, the Arab League took a decision to support Iraq in this file and move towards the countries from which the rivers flow into Iraq and ask them to allow Iraq to provide Iraq with its fair share of the waters of the two rivers, because it is the only one affected, and it has no sources other than what is received from the Tigris and Euphrates ".

Last November, the Ministry of Water Resources obtained a decision from the Arab Ministerial Council for Water, stipulating that the Arab League approach all neighboring countries to guarantee Iraq's water quotas.
