Yesterday, Sunday, during his meeting with the US Ambassador to Baghdad in Sulaymaniyah, Alina Romanowski, the President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, Pavel Jalal Talabani, stressed the necessity for the next regional government to be a government of citizens, pointing out that the era of governments exploiting partisan and individual interests has ended.
His media office said, "Talabani received today in Sulaymaniyah, the US Ambassador to Baghdad, Alina Romanowski," indicating that "the meeting discussed the situation in the Kurdistan Region after the elections, and the formation of the new government."
Talabani pointed out during the meeting that “the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan is taking a new strategy towards forming a government, and rejects repeating the previous experience of ruling alone,” noting that “we seek to form a national government that is responsible to its citizens, a just government that does not discriminate between cities and provides services to all at the same pace.”
He stressed that “there is no place for monopoly and tyranny at the current stage in the Kurdistan Region, and the era of exploiting government institutions for partisan and individual interests has ended,” considering that “the government should not turn into a pasture that serves the interests of a certain party,” stressing that “the next government is the government of the citizen and will remain so, and any effort made outside the framework of that will is destined to fail and the Patriotic Union will not allow it.”
