Al-Mustansiriya University is one of the Iraqi government universities located in the Rusafa side of Baghdad.
It took its name from the Al-Mustansiriya school, which was founded during the Abbasid era in Baghdad in 1233 by Al-Hakim Al-Mustansir Billah, which was an important scientific and cultural center, and this university is a scientific and cognitive extension of it.
The university, which was established in 1963, includes thirteen colleges, most of which are on the Rusafa side, with the exception of the College of Medicine and the College of Dentistry and Pharmacy because they are located next to educational hospitals on the Karkh side of the capital, Baghdad, which was established in 1963.
