Iraq is in fourth place.. Learn about the "largest" Arab countries that emit "harmful" emissions
Shafaq News/ Iraq ranked fourth in the list of the largest Arab countries that emit harmful emissions from the energy sector, with an annual growth rate of 8.7%.
According to the statistics of the British oil company BP, the carbon dioxide emissions of the Iraqi energy sector increased during the past year 2021 to 141 million tons, compared to 130 million tons during 2020.
With Iraq occupying the fourth place among the Arab countries that export harmful emissions, Iraq's emissions from incineration increased during the past year 2021 to 35.8 million tons, compared to 34.7 million tons during 2020.
According to the statistic; Saudi Arabia topped the list of the largest Arab countries emitting harmful emissions from the energy sector during 2021, as its total carbon dioxide emissions grew by about 1.4%.
The carbon dioxide emissions of the Saudi energy sector increased to 575.3 million tons in 2021, compared to 569.2 million tons in 2020.
The United Arab Emirates ranked second in the list of Arab countries that emit harmful emissions from the energy sector during 2021, with an annual growth rate of 5.4%.
Egypt came in third place in the list of the largest Arab countries that emit harmful emissions in the energy sector during the past year 2021, after recording an annual growth rate of 8.4%.
Algeria ranked fifth in the list of Arab countries that emit harmful emissions from the energy sector during the past year 2021, with an annual growth rate of 5.1%.
Qatar's emissions increased during the past year 2021 to come in sixth place in the list of Arab countries that emit the most harmful emissions from the energy sector, recording an annual growth rate of 7.4%.
Kuwait ranked seventh in the list of Arab countries that emit most harmful emissions from the energy sector during the past year 2021, with an annual rate of 7.9%.
