A member of the Parliamentary Legal Committee, Aref Al-Hamami, confirmed today, Sunday, that the Provincial Councils Law is under amendment, while indicating that it will soon be presented to the House of Representatives.
Al-Hamami said in a press statement: “The provincial councils law is now under amendment with some paragraphs in it, and in the coming days it will be presented to the House of Representatives.”
He added, "The elections will be held next year because the abolition of the provincial councils is an unconstitutional decision, and the government and the political blocs are determined to hold the elections."
