    Yes Iraq: Baghdad

The government of Prime Minister Muhammad Shia'a al-Sudani is interested in raising the production of electric power, but the announced statements do not herald a major development soon, as the most prominent thing promoted by al-Sudani is the addition of more than 3,500 megawatts within two years.
The current government, through the Minister of Electricity, launched its term by saying that it plans to raise electricity production to 24,000 megawatts, as Electricity Minister Ziyad Ali Fadel said that the ministry's plan aims to reach 24,000 megawatts before next summer.
This statement was made last November, at a time when the Ministry of Electricity, according to its spokesman, Ahmed Moussa, had said two months before this statement, specifically last September, that it “achieved an average daily energy production that reached 24047 megawatts for the first time in the history of the system since its establishment.” So far".

This caused great question marks, as it was assumed that the ministry had crossed the target of 24 thousand megawatts and was talking about introducing a new thousand megawatts, but the Minister of Electricity returned after two months to say that his ministry aims to reach 24 thousand megawatts, which indicates that the ministry This product has not arrived yet!

Today, the Prime Minister, Muhammad Shayaa al-Sudani, met with the Minister of Electricity and a number of advisors and private sector investors in the electricity sector, stressing that Iraq has strategic plans to address the electricity sector and advance its reality.

"The meeting was devoted to discussing the electricity file, and the most important strategic projects that the government intends to launch in cooperation with the private sector, to develop the electricity system and increase the efficiency of the electric power grid, in the field of production, transmission and distribution," the media office of the Prime Minister, Muhammad Shia'a al-Sudani, said in a statement today.
The statement added, "Al-Sudani stressed that the Iraqi government attaches great importance to the electricity file, and is determined to develop this sector, which has been suffering despite the huge government spending, and because of this, basic economic sectors such as industry, agriculture, investment, and others have been affected."
The statement stated, “The Prime Minister emphasized that the Iraqi government believes in the importance of the private sector and the successful partnership with it, and its ability to contribute to the growth of the Iraqi economy, in its various sectors, including electricity. His Excellency made it clear that the government has strategic plans to address this sector and advance its reality.

Al-Sudani did not disclose any large mega projects or add a new amount of production in the near future, except for talking about a project related to the combined cycle that will take place within two years, as he indicated that part of the powers will go to the implementation of combined cycle projects in the production of electricity, which will provide 3500 MW, within two years, and it will not cost the treasury any additional dollar of fuel, which is complementary to the existing simple cycle projects, and has been disrupted due to corruption and mismanagement.
The combined cycle is a technology that develops existing gas stations and increases their electrical production by 50% without using more fuel, meaning that stations with a design capacity of 7,000 megawatts, and operating on a certain amount of fuel, will produce an additional 3,500 megawatts using the heat generated from their operation. , raising its production to more than 10,500 megawatts.
In addition to the 3,500 megawatts, to the 24,000 megawatts that are expected to be reached next summer, the total production will be 27,500 megawatts only, which is equivalent to 78% of the need of more than 35,000 megawatts.
It can be deduced from the absence of the Sudanese government’s talk about raising more production with new stations, that the Sudanese government does not think about adding more energy in the “perforated bag,” which makes the government need to import more gas, as Al-Sudani and his government aim to raise production without raising the need for gas, as well as controlling oil. Waste of energy produced.
