    Today, Sunday, the oil expert, Kovind Sherwani, revealed four main reasons why the costs of oil extraction and production in the Kurdistan region are higher than in other regions of Iraq.
    Sherwani said, "There are several main reasons behind the rise in oil in the Kurdistan region, including the high risk rates, due to the lack of many geological and topographic studies around the region."
    He added, "The oil produced in the region is of a heavy type in terms of price and quality, lower than Basra crude oil," attributing "the third reason to the geographical and mountainous nature that makes work in terms of building roads and camps very difficult."
    Sherwani indicated to (Baghdad Today), that "the last reason for the increase in oil production is political, because the region is a constitutional entity that enjoys self-administration that differs from independent countries, and this may not be encouraging for companies to compete , as happens with fully independent countries.”
