In joint coordination, the Media and Communications Commission and the Ministries of Interior and Health launched a campaign to combat unlicensed beauty centers, which have spread like wildfire in Baghdad and the provinces, as many of them publish expensive advertisements.
The Media and Communications Authority had previously issued a directive to the media to stop advertisements for unlicensed beauty centers, as they contain scenes that are offensive to modesty.
A member of the Board of Commissioners of the Media and Communications Authority, Mahmoud Al-Rubaie, said: "The authority's decision is positive," calling on "citizens and social and governmental actors to cooperate in this field."
Al-Rubaie told Al-Sabah: “Within the framework of its participation in the campaigns of the National Service Government, the Communications and Media Authority decided to ban advertisements that some unlicensed beauty centers display, publish and promote on social networking sites and the media, as well as in public squares and streets, as they are violating centers.” instructions and general regulations, which include abuse and scenes that do not fit with the nature of Iraqi society.
A member of the Board of Commissioners of the Commission called for the cooperation of "all citizens and officials of networks, agencies and websites with these positive decisions and their commitment to them in order to preserve the civilized image of the country." It contradicts the morals and values of our society.
In conjunction with this decision, the Ministry of Interior launched a security campaign to close unlicensed beauty centers, which is considered a fraud, as 20 unlicensed beauty centers were closed in the capital, Baghdad.
The official spokesman for the Ministry of Interior, Major General Khaled Al-Muhanna, confirmed that unlicensed beauty centers pose a threat to the lives of citizens, and many complaints have been submitted in this regard.
Al-Muhanna told Al-Sabah: "The Ministry of Interior is an implementing agency, and we have monitored many phenomena that involve a violation of laws and a threat to society, such as unlicensed beauty centers that pose a threat to the lives of citizens."
He added, "We have received many complaints from people who were affected by their review of these centers," and indicated that "the controls and instructions allow only professional and specialized workers with official permits to open these centers," stressing that "the campaign launched by the Ministry of Interior in cooperation with the Ministry of Health, trade unions and professions Health continues until now and in all regions of the country.
For her part, Dr. Ruba Falah, from the Ministry of Health, described these centers as "dangerous", which causes permanent damage to citizens, revealing the number of them in Baghdad, and confirming the continuation of the campaign until the closure of the last unlicensed center.
Falah told Al-Sabah: "Unlicensed beauty centers are a dangerous and important file, and several meetings were held to discuss the reality of these centers."
And she revealed that "the number of these centers has reached 89 in Baghdad only, while the campaign includes all governorates," and called for "opening beauty centers according to specific criteria," warning that "the unlicensed center uses invalid materials that will lead to serious damage to health." .
And she stressed the necessity of "closing these centers and holding their owners accountable and referring them to the judiciary," stressing that "the campaign continues until the last unlicensed beauty center is closed."
In the same context, the Maysan Police Directorate announced, yesterday, Saturday, the closure of beauty centers, medical clinics, and unofficial pharmacies in the governorate.
A statement by the directorate stated, "Under the supervision of the director of the directorate, Brigadier General Alaa, and under the direction of Maysan Governor Ali Dawai Lazim, detachments of the security services in the Crime Directorate carried out a security duty, which included closing several beauty centers, medical clinics, and unofficial pharmacies in the governorate," and indicated that "measures have been taken." necessary legal action against them.
The statement stressed that "the efforts of the security services are continuing to pursue the owners of these centers and other violators," calling on citizens to "report them to serve the public interest."
