Thirteen consulates and diplomatic representations in the Kurdistan region demanded that the necessary steps be taken to hold the elections and not to postpone them further, calling for the necessity of holding elections.

Wafaa Muhammad, a member of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, said: “The interest of the consulates, diplomatic missions, and the United Nations representative in holding fair elections in the region is not new. for a whole year.”
Muhammad added, to Al-Sabah, that “the dispute was over the size of the quota for minorities, which includes 111 seats of Christians, Turkmen and Armenians, as the Kurdistan Union demands that minorities be granted seats in Sulaymaniyah and Karmian, despite the heavy presence of these minorities in Erbil and Dohuk,” noting that “the meeting of the two offices Democratic politicians and the Union resolve a lot

Ibrahim added, to Al-Sabah, "We appeal to the international community to exert more pressure to ensure free and fair elections and to prepare the appropriate ground in which equal and fair opportunities are available for all."
While a member of the Kurdistan Union, Diyar Aqrawi, called on everyone to “take bold steps to amend the election law that dates back to 1992,” explaining, “We find in the law a paragraph confirming that there should be several districts in the Kurdistan region, and we believe that considering the region as one district will not achieve justice in Distribution of seats.
Aqrawi said, in an interview with “Al-Sabah,” that “according to the current law, the seats of Sulaymaniyah will be transferred to Erbil and Dohuk,” pointing out that “the real entitlement is that there be real representatives in their regions, and when we reach a conviction to amend the election law and activate the commission, we will We are ready to hold elections.”
He added, "The Union and the Democratic Parties have recently reached advanced understandings and agreements in this regard in order to avoid damage to the region's reputation internationally and regionally, and to establish genuine democratic mechanisms for the peaceful transfer of powers in the region."
For his part, Hiwa Syed, a member of the Political Bureau of the Kurdistan Toilers' Party, said, "This is not the first time that international representations and consulates in the region have monitored and put pressure on the ruling parties."
