The Council of Ministers, in its regular session held yesterday, Tuesday, headed by the Speaker of the Council, Muhammad Shia’a Al-Sudani, on Monday, corresponding to December 18, set the date for holding the provincial elections for the year 2023, while the President of the Council directed that the Eid holiday be from Tuesday, corresponding to the 27th. June 2023, until Sunday, July 2, 2023, provided that official working hours will resume in all government institutions on Monday, July 3.
A statement by the Prime Minister's Media Office stated that the parliament decided to refer the first semi-annual report for the year 2023, related to the stages of progress of the government program, to the House of Representatives.
The statement added that Al-Sudani appreciated the efforts of the government program team, which worked on preparing the report, in a scientific and professional manner, indicating that the Prime Minister will later hold a press conference to review the details of the government curriculum and explain the achieved achievement rates.
Within the framework of the administrative reform that the government intended to achieve, Al-Sudani directed the formation of a supreme committee to restructure the government apparatus, according to the vision of the new system, which was drawn up by the Constitution of the Republic of Iraq for the year 2005.
The Council of Ministers approved the recommendations of the minutes of the 32nd meeting of the Diwani Order Committee (45 of 2018) regarding the development of the necessary means, mechanisms and solutions for the completion of public hospital projects, while it approved the draft mental health law, which was audited by the State Council, and referred to the House of Representatives.
And as part of the endeavor to regulate the work and residence of expatriate workers, the Council of Ministers agreed to set a new period for submitting requests to adjust the legal status of violating foreign workers, which were granted according to the recommendations of the Committee to Study the Problem of the Increase in the Number of Foreign Workers, which was approved by the Council of Ministers in accordance with its decision (23119) for the year 2023, for a period of ( 45) working days, based on the recommendations of the aforementioned committee issued under the letter of the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers.
The Council approved the draft law amending the Penal Code No. (111) of 1969, which was reviewed by the State Council, and referred to the House of Representatives.
