    Today, Sunday, the Ministry of Water Resources revealed two directions for implementing agricultural reclamation projects, while indicating the trend towards closed irrigation projects to conserve water by 80 percent.
    The Director General of Agricultural Land Reclamation in the Ministry, Khaled Shamal, said in an interview with the Iraqi News Agency, followed by "Al-Iqtisad News", that "agricultural reclamation projects are the most important projects for food and water security for Iraq, so the Ministry is serious about implementing two points, the first is completing all Reclamation projects that have been lagging since 2003 until now, and the second is the implementation of pioneering reclamation projects, which include reclamation projects for transporting water that is through pipes "the closed system", that is, pumping, transporting and distributing water through pipes, and the outlets are regulated, and pricing standards may or may not be included. by standards.” 
    He added, "Reclamation projects are carried out with the least effort, cost, and amount of water," stressing that "the ministry has begun design work related to these projects."
    He pointed out, "There are two pilot projects in Baghdad and the holy city of Karbala that are about to be completed, in addition to coordination with leading companies in this field of pilot projects," stressing that "the ministry is going towards closed irrigation that conserves water by 80% and prevents evaporation, overflow and leakage."
    He explained, "There is a problem with the concept of reclamation, where uncultivated lands must be reclaimed, but what was happening previously was the reclamation of cultivated lands and orchards, and thus the ministry entered into problems and a spiral of intersections and conflicts and stopped work," adding, "The ministry is now considering a reclamation project to implement." With as few intersections as possible, relying on tourist irrigation.
    He pointed out that "all governorates are covered by agricultural reclamation projects, such as the governorates of the Middle Euphrates, Maysan, Dhi Qar and Anbar, especially the lands that have a water share or a water outlet," explaining that "the ministry is continuing with the works of lining the canals, to reduce water waste by 20%, and it is also prohibited Pollutants and water seepage into the soil and maintains water quality.
