The Prime Minister's Adviser for Transportation Affairs, Nasser Al-Asadi, stated that the "development path" projects will soon be signed with Turkey, at a time when an economic researcher called for the need for all designs to be in accordance with the reality of the environment, lands and global roads that are compatible with Iraq.
Al-Asadi told Al-Sabah: "It is hoped that Iraq and Turkey will soon sign projects related to the (development path), which includes a land line project and a railway linking the Gulf to the Turkish border, which is relied upon to become a basic transport line for goods between the Middle East and Europe." .
Ankara is showing great interest in the strategic "development path" project launched by Prime Minister Muhammad Shia' al-Sudani earlier this year, as Ali Samin, founder of the Middle East, Eurasia, Asia and Pacific Studies Platform, believes that "the project will be an alternative to Iraq, whose income depends on On oil only.” And he indicated that “the project would contribute to Turkey’s economic growth and enhance its competitiveness in the energy sector.” active in the energy trade.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said during his meeting with Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani last March: "We confirmed our intention to work together to complete the (Development Road) project aimed at building a land transport corridor and a railway extending from Basra to the Turkish border."
In addition, the researcher in economic affairs, Dr. Ali Daadush, considered that it is necessary for all designs to be in accordance with the reality of the environment, lands, and international roads that are compatible with Iraq.
Dadoush added, in an interview with "Al-Sabah", that "the base maps in the Ministry of Municipalities, Construction and Housing should be referred to and updated as well, as they were drawn up by experts and specialists who worked on studying the Iraqi land completely, and therefore those maps must be updated according to the latest developments in roads and transportation."
He continued, "We must work on building laboratories and factories near the road, or building re-manufacturing complexes for commodities and materials to ensure front and back interlocking back and forth; import and export of various commodities, including basic commodities and raw materials."
Dadoush explained, "Turkish positivity should be invested in dealing with the (development path) and work to conclude agreements in various aspects and give priority to the water issue in the country, as well as attracting Turkish investments and exchanging experiences for long-term cooperation."
And he warned that "the most important of all is that the agreements are binding with the executing company or companies according to solid feasibility studies, and that they are between the Iraqi state as a party and the company according to a law issued by it to become enforceable even with the change of government in the future."
