    Member of the Parliamentary Legal Committee, Raed Al-Maliki, today, Saturday, set the date for the first reading of the General Amnesty Law in the House of Representatives, while revealing the details of the draft sent by the government.

    Al-Maliki said in an interview with Al-Sumaria News, “The general draft amnesty law reached the House of Representatives, before Parliament’s temporary recess due to the Arba’een visit, and today it was put on the committee’s table.”

    The member of the House of Representatives added, “Today, the Parliamentary Legal Committee discussed the draft general amnesty law that arrived from the government,” noting that “there are many comments on the paragraphs of the draft law.”



    Al-Maliki pointed out, “The Parliamentary Legal Committee agreed to proceed with submitting the draft general amnesty law to the Presidency of the House of Representatives, and to include it on the agenda for the first reading during the current week.”

    He continued, "Workshops and meetings will be held on the precise wording and content of the draft general amnesty law," noting that "the government draft of the draft law included a paragraph redefining affiliation to terrorist groups."

    Al-Maliki pointed out that “the Legal Committee in the House of Representatives decided to host the Public Prosecution.”[url=https://www.alsumaria.tv/Entity/118981/%D9%85%D8%AC%D9%84%D8%B3 %D8%A7%D9%84%D9%82%D8%B6%D8%A7%D8%A1 %D8%A7%D9%84%D8%A3%D8%B9%D9%84%D9%89/ar/]Supreme Judicial Council[/url], and the competent judicial authorities; To know the scope covered by the definition related to amnesty.”

    He concluded by saying, “There are proposals related to adding amendments to the government proposal, to include crimes and exclude other crimes in the general amnesty law.”

     
    Earlier, Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani confirmed a legal review of the General Amnesty Law, with the aim of defining the crime of belonging to terrorist organizations, to include everyone who has been proven to have “worked in terrorist organizations, recruited elements for them, carried out criminal acts, or assisted in any way to Carrying out a terrorist act or whose name is found in the records of terrorist organizations).
