Competing political blocs in elections often adopt the principle of shifting the blame and blaming others, and sometimes they may reach the point of playing to incite sectarian strife to obtain votes, while specialists talk about the possibility of offering service electoral programs instead to win over the masses.

Destruction and incitement of sectarianism
Today, Tuesday (October 31, 2023), political science professor Osama Al-Saeedi commented on the possibility of political blocs relying in their electoral competition on “service programs instead of discrimination and stirring up sectarianism.”
Al-Saidi says, “All political blocs have service, economic, social, and other electoral programs, but these programs are not implemented after their victory, and remain ink on paper, and this matter has become exposed to the Iraqi street,” adding, “For this reason, the voter no longer follows any of those programs.” He knows very well that the blocs are not applicable and are just slogans.”
He pointed out that “there are many political forces that rely in their electoral competition on defeating opponents and spreading rumours, especially since some parties have media outlets that they use with the aim of defeating those competing with them.”
Al-Saeedi pointed out that “there are some political parties that rely in every election on some sectarian strife, in order to win over some of the public, and this matter has also become exposed and does not find popular sympathy with such calls aimed at stirring up sectarianism to achieve electoral goals and gains only.”

Tribal support for candidates
Professor of international media and political analyst Dr. Muayyad Khalaf Al-Dulaimi believes that the Iraqi tribes have had an active role and influence in the political, social and security scene since the beginning of the population formations of Mesopotamia.
He explains, in a press statement, that the nature of the influence varies according to times and places and the variables surrounding them, and the influence may be very clear in the upcoming elections, due to some administrative mentalities that control matters and are subject to the authority of the clan and tribe.
Al-Dulaimi adds that, in most cases, the clan hosts are in control of everything and that is where deals are managed, so the clan and tribe have a clear influence on political decisions.
Money and election marathon
Earlier, the head of the Bayraq Al-Khair Party, Muhammad Al-Khalidi, pointed out that “political money and exploitation of the state’s capabilities are not alien to the election marathon, and it is conducted by the big powers without any fear because they are ruling powers.”
Al-Khalidi believes in an interview, “Granting any government employee running for elections early leave, regardless of his position, is a fair step, but unfortunately it is not implemented, and there are those who exploit his position for electoral gain,” pointing out that “the electoral programs are electrical transformers and space, which are funded from the state treasury and not from the government.” Pockets of parties and officials.”
Al-Khalidi points out that “the extravagance in the elections begins from now, and we will see billions spent in various forms in order to harvest votes,” stressing that “the reality of independents and emerging parties will be painful in the absence of any standards for fair competition.”
