Dhi Qar Governorate revealed that the Council of Ministers approved a draft law regulating the rights of victims of the Al-Naqa Hospital fire, and referred it to the House of Representatives for a vote. The families of the victims of the Isolation Center who died in the Al-Naqa Center fire in 2021 had organized protests during the last two months in which they demanded that their families be considered martyrs.
The official spokesman for the governorate, Abu Al-Hussein Al-Badri, conveyed to Al-Sabah that the Governor of Dhi Qar, Muhammad Hadi Al-Ghazi, confirmed the Cabinet’s approval of the draft law regulating the rights of victims of Al-Naqa Hospital and referred it to the House of Representatives.
Al-Badri stated that the approval came after close follow-up by the local government and constant keenness to obtain their rights, in addition to raising the issue many times during previous cabinet sessions.
He pointed out that the local government of Dhi Qar gave privacy to the tragedy of the Al-Naqa incident because of the oppression suffered by the victims’ families and the absence of their rights.
