The government places among its priorities the development of areas on the outskirts of Baghdad to raise the deteriorating level of services, a task that awaits the new local government scheduled to be formed after the approval of the results of the local elections.
The increased activity in providing services has been welcomed by citizens, which calls for the protection of service projects socially.
In an interview with Al-Sabah, member of the Parliamentary Services Committee, Mahdia Al-Lami, revealed that 70 percent of the regional development budget in the capital has been allocated to the periphery regions, explaining that Baghdad Governorate is responsible for services in the peripheries that suffer from their scarcity, and it spends on them from the regional development budget according to Article 124/Second of the Constitution.
She indicated that work is underway in several areas, including paving, covering, laying sewage pipes, and providing drinking water, indicating that the new local government will have to present achievements in the outskirts of Baghdad, because the Prime Minister’s Office emphasizes their importance and development.
The six districts of Baghdad suffer from deteriorating services, as there is a lack of infrastructure and superstructure for services, while citizens rejoiced at the government’s seriousness in providing services.
On the same level, the director of Sabaa al-Bour district, Ali Bani, explained to “Al-Sabah” that the government’s approach is focused on providing services and implementing projects that touch the lives of citizens, including sewage projects, noting that this confirmation restored confidence in the government, in addition to referring the projects to reputable companies with a history. .
He added that the people were hopeful about the arrival of these companies, and the local government in Baghdad, the Baghdad Sewerage Department, and other ministries have expedited the completion of the needs of these projects in terms of plans, designs, and allocation of plots of land, indicating that these projects are strategic and were the dream of the people, and they have been achieved.
Bani pointed out that the phase of superstructure projects will begin, and several meetings were held with the mayors and notables, calling on citizens to protect these projects and not obstruct them.
