The Ministry of Commerce confirmed today, Tuesday, that import licenses have been limited to (14) items only, and while it announced the establishment of new controls for issuing import IDs, it set the date for their implementation.
Ministry spokesman Muhammad Hanoun told the official news agency: “Import licenses were limited to only (14) materials, according to Cabinet Resolution No. 23110 of 2023, noting that the materials are subject to the approval of the sectoral authority, while the rest of the materials are allowed to be imported without a license, as It is issued electronically by the importer submitting an import application through the importer’s electronic account after obtaining the import identity.
Hanoun added, “All activities are presented electronically, and new controls have been put in place for issuing the import identity and approved by the Minister of Commerce, and they will be implemented at the beginning of next March,” noting that “the duration of the leave is one year, except for what is determined by the sectoral authority.”
He pointed out that "the process of exporting all local materials and products is available."
Regarding the re-export of imported goods, Hanoun confirmed, “Allowing the re-export of imported goods, based on the federal budget law that was approved for three years,” pointing out that “most of the parties related to import and export have been provided with electronic windows through the electronic platform for issuing import and export identities and licenses.”
Hanoun concluded his speech by saying: “The support provided to exporters is in the form of specific percentages of the value of the exported goods, at rates of 5%, 10%, and 15% for raw, semi-manufactured, and manufactured materials, respectively, after submitting the required data.”
