The temporary Chargé d'Affairs of the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq to the State of Libya, Ahmed Al-Sahhaf, announced today, Thursday, the completion of 680 renewal and issuance of passports for the Iraqi community in Libya.
Al-Sahhaf said in a statement received by Mawazine News, “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs completed 680 transactions for renewing and issuing passports for the Iraqi community in Libya, in the western regions - Tripoli and the eastern regions - Benghazi.”
He added, "These efforts come based on the Ministry's vision to maximize the response to providing consular services, identify the most important needs of citizens, and support them in diversifying their active presence and participation in the most important events that reflect the sources of soft power on behalf of Iraq, both the government and the people."
He continued, "The heads of the National Unity Government in the State of Libya, Abdul Hamid Al-Dabaiba, and the Speaker of the Libyan House of Representatives, Counselor Aguila Saleh, expressed their readiness to visit Baghdad, discuss bilateral relations and advance them in what serves the two brotherly peoples."
It is noteworthy that the Chargé d'Affairs of the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq, Ahmed Al-Sahhaf, opened the Iraqi Embassy in Tripoli on January 22, 2023, resuming high-level meetings and developing bilateral relations between Baghdad and Tripoli after a hiatus that lasted about a decade due to the events that Libya witnessed during the past years.
Al-Sahhaf said in a statement received by Mawazine News, “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs completed 680 transactions for renewing and issuing passports for the Iraqi community in Libya, in the western regions - Tripoli and the eastern regions - Benghazi.”
He added, "These efforts come based on the Ministry's vision to maximize the response to providing consular services, identify the most important needs of citizens, and support them in diversifying their active presence and participation in the most important events that reflect the sources of soft power on behalf of Iraq, both the government and the people."
