Al-Shammari: Crime in Iraq decreased by 40%

Interior Minister Abdul Amir Al-Shammari indicated, yesterday, Wednesday, that crime in Iraq had decreased
by 40 percent.
The Ministry stated, in a statement received by the News Agency (INA), that “Al-Shammari met with the delegation of the Ministry of Interior in the Republic of Iraq to attend the meetings of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers in its 41st session held in the Tunisian capital, and Iraq’s participation received great attention from internal security officials and the media in the Republic.” “Because of the weight it represents in Arab and regional security, due to the extent of its rich experience in combating terrorism and crime and strengthening the foundations of security stability in the country.”
On the sidelines of the visit, Al-Shammari held “numerous meetings with his counterparts, Arab Interior Ministers, during which he discussed the most important requirements for strengthening joint Arab security and the importance of bilateral understandings between sisterly Arab countries to contain risks, most notably drug crimes and cross-border crimes, and undermine their effects on the civil and societal peace of peoples.”
In his speech at the 41st session of the Council, the Minister of Interior recalled “the sacrifices of our Palestinian people in the face of the genocidal war waged by the Zionist entity,” calling for “adopting a frank stance to condemn these brutal crimes.”
He explained, “The Ministry of the Interior in the Republic of Iraq developed a comprehensive security strategy for all aspects, which contributed to the ministry’s institutions assuming the tasks assigned to them to achieve security and stability and combat crime, which led to a decrease in crime rates by 40 percent.”
Regarding the great successes of the Iraqi Ministry of Interior in Arab and international conferences, the Minister of Interior reviewed “the ministry’s success in organizing the first Baghdad conference to combat drugs, in the presence of the Secretary-General of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers and the President of Naif University for Security Sciences, the distinguished participation of a number of sisterly Arab countries, and the hosting of the Iraqi Ministry of Interior for the third Arab conference.” Ten for the heads of security training and qualification institutions, in addition to Iraq’s participation in the quartet meeting hosted by the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
During the speech, Al-Shammari reviewed “the most prominent bilateral agreements with the ministries of interior in sisterly Arab countries and the resulting signing of bilateral cooperation agreements aimed at strengthening the foundations of stability and constructive cooperation for everything that would combat crimes and terrorism in our Arab countries.”
