The World Mental Health Report for the year 2023 showed interesting paradoxes, which place, for example, African countries at the forefront of countries with good mental and psychological health for their residents, while the United Kingdom places the United Kingdom in penultimate place, as it was better off than only Uzbekistan, which ranked. The latter, while Iraq had low levels of mental and psychological health among its population of Internet users.

The mental and psychological health report, which was prepared by the American Sabine LAS organization, and extrapolated by “Al-Sumaria News”, included a survey that included internet users in 71 countries, including Iraq, which concluded that lifting the lockdown after Corona did not cause the collective mental health of people to recover, but rather the deterioration of mental health became a matter. A new normal.

The report finds new findings in 2023, including that younger age when first owning a smartphone and consumption of ultra-processed foods are major contributors to the mental health challenges we face, which explains the decline in mental health in richer countries.

The results and data of the report show that Iraq came in 63rd place out of 71 countries included in the study, and Iraq obtained points amounting to 59 points in mental health, while the country with the best mental health received points amounting to 88, which is the Dominican Republic, while the worst country was Uzbekistan with a number of points amounting to 48 points, which means that Iraq is 11 points away from the worst country, and 29 points away from the best country in mental health.

The results indicate that 29% of the Iraqi survey participants confirmed the extent of their exposure to depression and psychological and mental health suffering, while the highest percentage was in the United Kingdom at 35%, and the lowest percentage was in Sri Lanka at 14% of the survey participants who expressed their feelings of depression.
