    A member of the Parliamentary Finance Committee, Moeen Al-Kadhimi, said that the Ministry of Finance has formed multiple work teams to conduct the process of localizing the salaries of Kurdistan Region employees, noting that the matter requires a period longer than a month.
    The Federal Ministry of Finance announced on Monday (March 11, 2024) the launch of funds for the salaries of civilian Kurdistan Region employees, social protection, care and development network entitlements, salaries of civilian and military retirees, entitlements for martyrs and Anfal affairs, contracts, and Kurdistan Region department entitlements, noting that the release of March salaries will take place after completing the settlement requirements.     The Federal Court pointed out that the resettlement process requires a sufficient period of time to complete it, so; The Federal Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Finance and Economy of the Kurdistan Regional Government must accelerate and make efforts to achieve the resettlement process, according to a statement issued by the court.
    Database conversion
    In this regard, Moeen Al-Kadhimi said in an interview followed by Al-Iqtisad News, “The important thing is for the Kurdistan Region to transfer the entire employee database, so that the responsibility is in the custody of the Federal Ministry of Finance regarding the nationalization process in government banks.”
    Al-Kadhimi added, "According to the Ministry of Finance's claim, it has the ability to rapidly resettle, and if there is an incompleteness of the total number, what is important is that the Kurdistan Region responded and handed over the database that is being audited by the Ministry of Finance."
    “In this way, the crisis in the salaries of employees and retirees in the Kurdistan Region will be resolved by dealing with them in the same manner as employees of the other 15 governorates,” according to Moeen Al-Kadhimi.
    Disbursing the amounts until the completion of resettlement,
    a member of the Parliamentary Finance Committee, added: “Even if they are not able to catch up on resettlement within a month, the government will certainly deal with them as long as they have responded, and thus the amounts will be disbursed to the Kurdistan Region until the resettlement process is completed.”
    Moin Al-Kadhimi continued: “It is true that the process of localizing salaries in the rest of the governorates took time, but if the Ministry of Finance formed multiple work teams and devoted themselves to that, it could complete the matter, but not within one month, as it would require a longer period.”
    It is noteworthy that the Ministry of Finance and Economy of the Kurdistan Regional Government announced on Tuesday that the Federal Ministry of Finance funded 59% of the Kurdistan Region’s total salaries and deprived 41% of salary recipients of their entitlements, noting that the amount that was decided to be funded had not yet reached it.
