Turkey's exports of gold, vegetables, and fruits to Iraq increased during the first month of the current year compared to the same month of last year,
as the value of Turkey's gold exports to Iraq in January 2024 reached $123 million, an increase of 97%, as the value of its gold exports to Iraq in January The second, in 2022, is approximately 63 million US dollars.
According to the economic expert, Manar Al-Obaidi, “Turkey’s exports of fruits and vegetables in January of this year amounted to $91 million, an increase of 90%, as the value of its exports in January of last year was only $48 million.”
It is likely that this increase is due to merchants of both commodities being forced to enter the official transfer platforms and reveal the real value of the goods in order to obtain the dollar in Turkey, after the transfer process previously took place outside the banking system and most of the goods were smuggled without being detected, in addition to the increased reliance on fruits. And Turkish vegetables, according to Al-Obaidi.
The total value of Turkish exports to Iraq in the first month of the year achieved a noticeable increase compared to last year, as the total value of goods exported to Iraq from Turkey reached 970 million US dollars, after it was in the same period of 2023 at a value of 750 million US dollars.
